Homework Sessions: This semester homework will be done in proctored homework sessions, held in class starting at 17:40 on the evenings scheduled. The problems will be distributed as you enter the room. HW groups will generally work for ~1 hour, and submit their homework at the end of the time.
Partner Policy: Homeworks must be done in groups of 2. Special permission must be given to do it by yourself. Under no circumstances will there be more than 2 in a group. Both partners are responsible to do the work, know the solutions, and will receive the same grade. You may ask the teaching staff to help find a partner if you cannot find one.
Submission Policy: For text, equations and drawings, neatly hand-written work is ok. Homework papers should be single sided A4 paper (no writing on the back side), should be stapled in the upper left corner, NOT pinned, NOT paper clipped, NOT in a folder, be written in regular pencil or ink (but not red ink), and leave empty space at the top of the first page for grade and comments. The names, ID #s, and section number of all members should be written in the center-top on the first page of the HW, and in the upper right corner of all subsequent pages. When submitting your homework paper at the end of the proctored homework session, please submit it in the box for your section.
Lateness Policy: No late homeworks are accepted, they must be submitted as you leave the HW session. The solutions will be made available after the due time for the homework.
Grading Policy: Homeworks are graded by the TA or Grader, according to the official solutions. All problems are graded. Homeworks done in partnership earn the same grade for both partners, except in unusual circumstances (cheating, etc)
Cheating Policy: Homeworks are a graded test of your ability in the material. Therefore, students are expected to consult only with their partner, and with their book. Access to Internet is prohibited ! Any sharing of answers between students not in the same homework group will be considered plagiarism, and the policies regarding Academic Dishonesty and the consequences will apply. DON'T COPY HOMEWORK, you are only robbing yourself of a learning opportunity, and giving in to dishonesty! Both the giver and receiver of answers will be held accountable for the plagiarism.
Return Policy: As with all graded work this semester, the graded HW papers will generally be returned to students during the lab times for that section. On occasion, they will be placed in the return boxes outside the instructor's door (when this is the case, it will be announced).
Review Policy: As with all graded work in CS223, students have a right to have the grading reviewed and explained. If you have a question about the grading of a HW paper, please make an appointment with the TA or Grader who graded it, to discuss it with him.
