Cloud Computing and Hardware Accelarated Clouds

This lecture is about bringing two very fast advancing technological developments together. On the one hand, cloud computing is offering all elements of computing organized in different ways. On the other hand, application specific hardware accelerators are overcoming the end of Dennard Scaling and Moore's Law, promising improved performance, cost and energy. The hardware accelerated cloud computing paradigm brings these two exciting technologies together to offer more efficient and flexible computing as a service.

Ece G. Schmidt

Ece Guran Schmidt received her B.S. degree in electrical and electronics engineering from the Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey, in 1997 and her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and computer engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, PA, in 2001 and 2004, respectively. She is currently a Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Middle East Technical University. Her research interests include high-speed networks with quality of service support, networks for embedded systems and hardware accelerated cloud computing.
