Notes:
Usually need “formatting” before first use (think of like electronically marking specific locations for data to be placed into.) Do using Windows Explorer, see later. Note: Formatting destroys any existing data on the disk so beware, only do it when really necessary.
The write protect notch provides a means to stop accidental changes or deletions from a disk Hole closed - read/write, hole open - read only.
Take care of your disks. Remember they contain work which you probably don't want to redo! Don't bend them, pour liquids over them, expose them to dust, extremes of heat or cold, electrical or magnetic fields.
Use floppy disks for backup. Take copies of all your important files so that if something goes wrong you can still recover something! Multiple copies, in multiple places.
Do NOT remove the floppy disk from the drive when the little light is on!
