Contemporary Issues in Computer Engineering
In this homework, you will prepare an essay on the contemporary issues
in computer engineering. You should first find out about possible contemporary issues
in this field. Some examples are listed below:
- What are the recent developments on "Big Data"technologies? What are the emerging applications of Big Data?
- What are the implications of open source software? What changes have open source communities brought to information technologies and society?
- A new form of Internet-based computing, called Cloud Computing is emerging.
What are the possible issues related with Cloud Computing?
- What are implications of Interned-based social networks, such as facebook and twitter,
on society?
- What is the right balance between privacy and security in information technologies? What are the technologies to protect our data?
- Current set of possible IP numbers in IPv4 (Internet Protocol version 4) is to be used up soon. So,
a new version, called IPv6, is coming up. What are the possible issues related with changing to IPv6?
- What are the possible security issues related with doing banking on the Internet?
- In many countries, including Turkey, e-Government (short for electronic government) systems are
being put on use for creating a comfortable, transparent, and cheap interaction between government and citizens.
What are the possible issues related with e-government?
- Researchers have been working on Quantum Computing.
How is it expected to change computing in the future?
- Surface computing is a new software platform. How do you thik it will affect our lives?
- Wearable computing is an active topic of research in computer engineering. How do you think it will affect our lives?
- Discuss the effects of online shoping on the economy.
You should be able to come up with more contemporary issues in computer engineering.
Your essay should be at least 3 pages long, single space, 12pt Times New Roman font.
