| Salim Arslan is a Ph.D. student at Computer Engineering Department of Bilkent University.
He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in computer engineering from Ege University in 2010 and from Bilkent University in 2012, respectively. He has been a researcher at Gunduz-Demir Research Group since September 2010 under the supervision of Prof. Cigdem Gunduz Demir, where the focus is development of new bio-computational models for medical image analysis. He has been also working as a teaching assistant at Computer Engineering Department of Bilkent University since Fall 2010. |

| His research interests include development of novel algorithms for cellular image analysis with the help of image processing and machine learning techniques.
He focuses on segmentation problems in fluorescence microscopy, phase contrast microscopy, and peripheral blood/bone marrow images. Recently, he is working on 1) segmentation of white blood cells for peripheral blood and bone marrow image analysis and 2) segmentation of live cells for anti-cancer drug development. He is a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). He was one of the founders of Ege University Computer Engineering Society (EBMT), where he served as the chairman for more than two years. At his last year in Ege University, he was also the faculty representative of Computer Engineering Department.
