Being able to analyze biological pathways through an easily understandable and visually rich view is an important consideration for biologists trying to work their way through pathways or cellular processes. ChiBE (Chisio BioPAX Editor) is an open source software that is developed to meet this requirement. It offers users the ability to visualize and edit biological pathway models represented by BioPAX (Biological Pathway Exchange) format, which is a standardized language for representing and transferring pathway data. Some of the numerous features offered by ChiBE 1.1 are visualizing Level 2 BioPAX pathways, querying genes or pathways through Pathway Commons database or integrating results of high-throughput experiments into pathway view. Currently, we are about to release version 2.0 of ChiBE and in this talk, I will focus on the new features we have added to ChiBE and the improvements performed on the current version while highlighting their contribution in increasing the usability of our tool.
