Realistic human animation is an important part of many applications. However creating a natural looking motion is an expensive process and requires talented animators. We present a method for creating realistic, controllable human motion. Given a set of motion capture data, we construct a directed graph called motion graph. Each edge in the motion graph contains either original motion data or automatically generated transitions. Motion graphs transform the motion synthesis problem into graph path problem. Motion can easily be generated by finding a path on the graph. We present a general framework for extracting a particular graph path that meets user’s specifications.
