Rapid advancement in today’s hyperspectral remote sensing technology enabled many new fields of research. Approaches seemed infeasible in the past are now being investigated by taking advantage of improving spectral and spatial resolution imagery. One of which research topics is anomaly detection. The interest in detecting small man-made anomalies in hyperspectral images is often associated with surveillance and defense purposes and applications. With this research, we try to understand nd take advantage of the spectral signatures either observed in hyperspectral imagery, or obtained from external libraries. We also investigate different background models, and try to tackle the dimensionality problem that comes as a price for having such extensive data.
