In this work, “prototypes” is introduced, as descriptive and distinctive elements of the videos to be used in representation for action recognition. Following the traditional supervised classification methods and utilizing the available state-of-the-art low-level features, it is shown that even with simple selection and representation methods, use of prototypes as features can increase the recognition performance. Moreover, when the training data is limited by the selected prototypes only, the performance is not affected much with the advantage of reduced cost.
