Named Data Networking (NDN) has been widely known in wired domains. Also, in recent years it has been considered as an enabling technology for the Internet of Things (IoT). NDN uses in-network caching that provides efficient data delivery, reduces the total bandwidth usage in the network and reduces the load of the original server. Unlike traditional Internet packets, IoT data packets are generally small, transient and refreshed periodically. In addition, unlike the nodes on the Internet, the nodes on the IoT network can have limited resources such as energy and storage. This situation makes it difficult to use the caching algorithms used in the Internet traffic in IoT networks. In this paper, I consider a wireless NDN-IoT network and propose a probabilistic caching strategy. This strategy is based on the data popularity, freshness of the data and potentially limited resources of devices (energy and storage).
