Abstract: The rapid fusion of Internet of Things (IoT) and 5G technologies is redefining the future of healthcare — enabling connected medical devices, continuous patient monitoring, and intelligent clinical decision-making. Yet, these advances bring new challenges in security, privacy, and trust. This talk introduces an adaptive and intelligent authentication framework that ensures secure and energy-efficient operation of IoT-5G healthcare systems. By leveraging insights from COST Actions 6G PHYSEC and 5G BEiNG-WISE, along with outcomes from Vinnova’s RAISE-6G project and Cognitive Cities (e-COST), the presentation outlines how AI-driven PHY-layer authentication, context-aware decision models, and dynamic trust management can defend against evolving cyber threats while maintaining real-time performance. Through design-to-deployment experiences, the talk highlights lessons learned, implementation strategies, and experimental results that showcase how adaptive, zero-trust architectures can transform healthcare networks into secure, resilient, and human-centered ecosystems. The session concludes by envisioning how these innovations pave the way for trustworthy, intelligent 6G-enabled healthcare systems of the future.
