Many of you (graduate students) are preparing for an
academic career. An important component of such a career is
teaching. Occasionally, opportunities arise for senior graduate
students to teach an undergraduate course. I would like to
recognize Zeynep Dayar who had the highest evaluations for the
fall of 1997 among all the graduate students teaching for us Her
evaluations were among the highest in the department. The course
she taught was CSC 333, "Automata, Grammars, and Computability"
which is usually viewed as a challenging course. We appreciate
the fine job that she did.
