Exams: There will be two written exams; one midterm &
one final exam. Dates and times will be announced on the web and in class. All
exams will be closed book and notes --students will only be allowed to take a single
A4 crib-sheet into the exam room. There will be a single makeup exam that may
be taken only
by those who missed an exam due to documented medical reasons. It will be given
in the last week and will include all material. Makeups
will not be given for homeworks, quizzes, etc.
Exam Grading: The midterm examination is 30% of the overall
letter grade. The laboratory is 25%. The final examination is 35%. Lab quizzes
and homework assignments will count for the remaining 10% Some
of these marks will be allocated for maintaining Journal quality & for
participation in the online Forum, etc.
Labs: Attendance to all CS101 lab sessions is mandatory.
For private study, computer labs in the Computer Center (BCC) building, the
Fine Arts building & the Engineering building are open 24 hours a day and
may be used if they are not being used for any scheduled course. Wireless
Internet access is also available (in BCC, the Library, and the Engineering
