In contrast to the towering constructs of physics, chemistry, biology and genetics, cognition (the study of mind) lags far behind. Lacking even the most basic of foundations its ramshackle house threatens to fall apart under the slightest philosophical wind! Until Cognitive Science, Artificial Intelligence and Psychology can provide a detailed explanation of how minds acquire, represent and use knowledge of the world, we cannot begin to build such beautiful structures.
