A COMPUTATIONAL MODEL OF
PROCEDURAL LEARNING

by

Armagan Yavuz

Abstract: The activity of learning skills such as driving, swimming, walking, etc. is called procedural learning. Some psychological theories suggest that almost all human skills and behaviors are learned in this way. If this is the case, then study of systems which have such general purpose learning ability is extremely important for the study of intelligence. In this talk, a model of cognitive mechanisms that can accomplish such procedural learning will be described. We will also look at how the model can be used for learning a number of interesting skills and behaviors.
