The Third Annual
Bilkent Programming Contest

The Story of the Day told in Pictures

This is a pictorial record of the events of Saturday May 24th. It will take a while to download because of all the images, but we think you will find the wait worthwhile. We would like to take this opportunity to thank once again, our main sponsors LOGO Software who provided extremely generous prizes for the programming round, to Meteksan who provided additional prizes for the trivia round, to all the people who helped in the organisation and, of course, to the contestants. We hope you all found it a very enjoyable and fruitful day. Thank you.

The images were captured by Alpan Alpay of AIDATA Ankara, who also generously provided the Casio QV100 digital camera with which they were taken. Unfortunately, lack of experience with the camera has meant that some of the pictures, in particular those in the darkened atmosphere of the second round, have not come out too well. We hope to include some normal photos too, when they have finally been processed and scanned! Despite a few hiccups, the camera was remarkably convenient and easy to use. We even managed to include some of the morning pictures in the afternoon presentation! While they are still a little expensive, they are great for this sort of on-line photo journalism.

Round 1 - Programming

Preparing the questions

Lots of headscratching...

Here we go

No problem, this is easy

Well, I think it's easy...

actually...?

Ummm...

this
calls
for
some
serious
thinking!

Ok,

now
we've
got
it

Finally,
all done

There, it wasn't too difficult
after all!

Round 2 - The Trivia Quiz

Preparations

& last minute discussions!

Let the FUN begin

First question, Guess who?

The Prize Giving

And the winners are...

That's All Folks

And that's the end of our story. Actually, there was a reception after the prize giving,
but everyone was too busy eating and drinking, to think of photos! Maybe next year.

Next year? You mean we have to do this again?
