Welcome to my research web page!
I am an Assistant Professor at the Department
of Computer Engineering at Bilkent University. I received my B.S. and M.S. degrees
in computer engineering from Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey, in 1999 and 2001,
respectively, and my Ph.D. degree in computer science from Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute, New York, in 2005. I am currently the treasurer of IEEE Turkey Section. I am also
a member of the professional societies of IEEE and ISCB, and a member of the alumni of
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Bogazici University, and Ankara Science High School.
My main research interests and projects include development of
new bio-computational models and application of pattern recognition and
computer vision algorithms for medical image analysis.
My research group currently focuses on
histopathological image analysis and
high content screening. The research topics include:
- Image segmentation
- Image representation and feature extraction
- Classification
- Content-based image retrieval
- Graph algorithms
- Machine learning algorithms
